To celebrate the launch of American Standard's DXV line, designer Susan Serra creates a modern kitchen inspired by Nordic crafts and contemporary furniture. “Scandinavian design is my personal aesthetic favorite,” Serra says. "I wanted the mood to be one of comfort, of casual living, and of beauty."

Serra's design firm, Bornholm Kitchen, creates custom cabinetry, which is fabricated in Pennsylvania.
The kitchen's layout fosters socializing throughout the cooking and eating process.
The countertop is Silestone's Dreis colorway by Cosentino.
For the sink area, Serra specified American Standard's Orchard Apron sink in white.
"Overall, it is important to me to build in change into the kitchens I design.
"My most important must-have, truly, is art which can be in the form of paintings, sculpture or other decorative arts,"...
Serra sourced the handwoven vintage runner in front of the cooking area from Europe.
