For its Collection #3, New York design gallery Chamber has paired with curator Matylda Krzykowski of Depot Basel. The first installation of the four-part exhibition is titled "Just What Is It," a riff on an early Pop work by Richard Hamilton. The show renders collage into a three-dimensional assemblage of objects by contemporary designers including Design Displacement Group, Nick van Woert, mischer’traxler studio, and 2016 Young Gun alumni Louie Rigano and Gil Muller of Shore Rugs. 

Collection #3 runs through May 2017, with "Just What Is It" open until December 3, 2016, at Chamber,  515 W. 23rd St., New York. chambernyc.com

FF Berlage by Donald Beekman is the newest typeface from FontShop. Inspired by architect Hendrik Pieter Berlage, the father of modern architecture in Holland, the font is based on the lettering on two of the designer's most famous buildings, Amsterdam's Beurs van Berlage and De Burcht.

New York's Museum of Modern Art has just announced the acquisition of NTT DOCOMO’s original set of 176 emoji, first designed for cell phones in 1999, to its permanent collection, citing: "These 12 x 12 pixel humble masterpieces of design planted the seeds for the explosive growth of a new visual language." The now-ubiquitous glyph set joins other digital designs, such as the '@' symbol and a series of video games, which were acquired by the Architecture and Design department in 2010 and 2012, respectively.

Patrick Parrish Gallery presented this week The Ends of Invention, an exhibition by artist Chris Beeston. Beeston's work may appear simple, but his  speakers and lights made from dollar store items, such as Tupperware, are meticulously well-executed.

Scent-To-Home is a subscription-style, try-before-you-buy candle service from Keap, a startup founded by two ex-Google employees and based in New York's Industry City. For $15, customers get a scent "discover set," the cost of which can be applied to a full-sized candle. 

A dollar of each candle's sale goes to SolarAid, which helps distribute solar lamps to entrepreneurs in East Africa.

Artist Alexis Dahan opens a new solo exhibition next month at New York's Coburn Projects gallery. The show will feature a series of his charcoal drawings of cobblestone streets from around the world. Seeking to "represent the road as an object in itself by removing the destination," says the artist, "these paths have no beginning and no end."

Continuing its ongoing collaborations with fashion designers, Kartell has just teamed with Paula Cademartori as part of a project with the Milanese department store La Rinascente. Called Parati, the capsule collection includes a series of colorful sandals and handbags (shown), made with injected plastic and inspired by Rio de Janeiro's Botanical Garden.

Beirut-born and Paris-based Hala Wardé, of HW Architects has been named as the designer for BeMA, the new Beirut Museum of Art, chosen from a short list of 13 proposals. "I am delighted and honored to realize my first major project in the city of Beirut, where I was born, on such an exceptional site," the architect said in a statement. The museum is expected to open in 2020.
