The AJ floor lamp was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (now called the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel). In fact, Jacobsen designed every detail inside the hotel, down to the cutlery in the restaurant. Five new colors, decided upon by the Jacobsen family, were introduced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the piece, which is carried by Louis Poulsen. Fun fact: If you visit Copenhagen, you can request to stay in the one remaining hotel room that still has all of Jacobsen’s original furnishings—Room 606.
