Striking Black Kitchens Around the World

White is the traditional color for kitchens, denoting hygiene, brightness, and modernity. But these five black-clad kitchens, in houses from San Francisco to Copenhagen, show that some truly stand-out rooms embrace the dark side.

In paring back the home's aesthetic, Chris kept the color palette as simple as possible. Limiting the surfaces to either painted white or stained black allows colorful art, objects, furniture, and people to really pop.
