Sustainably Sourced Furniture by Steuart Padwick

Steuart Padwick is having a bang-up year. “A couple of months ago I received a Design Guild Mark for my Horseshoe Chair,” says Padwick, “And I have just had a great time at Clerkenwell Design Week.” Earlier this year, YLiving became the first retailer stateside to carry Padwick’s charming, ethically-sourced and witty designs.

Padwick’s “playful nature” comes through in many of his creations, including the delightfully-named Chuckle Bin, or the Sticks Coat Stand. “The designs have a warmth and humor that come through, but they are not comical or jokes,” notes Padwick. Indeed. Instead, they function beautifully at the intersection of elegance and liveliness.

Ethically-sourced materials are point of attention for Padwick in the construction process; shipping distance matters too. “We are starting to work with a Canadian company, Speke Klein,” he says, “so there is less traveling for North American sales.” He’s launching this collaboration with his extremely refined Darcey Dining Table; a gorgeous bit of furniture.

The Double Cross table offers a playful punch of color with sophisticated practicality. The ‘X’ base doubles up so the table can be easily made half the size.
