Inside Chile's Hotel Antumalal

Looking back at the hotel from afar, set within the cliff, the Frank Lloyd Wright influence is evident. The light always seems to be shining in just the right way, balancing the local vegetation with the contemporary structure.

Nestled in Pucon Chile, an area well known for its outdoor allure, the hotel draws both adventure and nature-seekers. It sits above Lake Villarrica, offering panoramic views of the lake, adjacent forest, gardens, and a smoking volcano. Nearby are numerous national parks featuring waterfalls and volcanic rock pools.

The hotel’s furniture are all reproductions or originals designed by the owners Catalina and Guillermo Pollack and built by local craftsmen, right down to the linens and rugs. The furniture pieces play with mid-century style using indigenous materials, including araucaria wood panels and calfskin chairs.

In the hotel's restaurant, floor to ceiling glass lets in plenty of natural light. The custom chairs have rope seats and backs.

Guest rooms have beautiful beechwood paneling and plush white carpets. Rates start at $239 including breakfast.
