Modern Family at Dwell on Design
With considering the ever-expanding children's market in the modern design realm, the plethora of visitors, tiny people, and exhibitors at The Modern Family Zone at Dwell on Design was not surprising in the least. Sponsored by Benjamin Moore Paints and Vitra, the Modern Family area featured artists and furniture manufacturers, as well as Play-Doh and finger-paint makers. With a multitude of hands-on activities and displays geared for children of all ages, the Modern Family Zone bustled with creativity all weekend. Coochicoos, a website dedicated to reporting “on the growing modern design trends happening for baby decor, furniture, fashion, and baby gear,” sponsored a part of this area of Modern Family.
The Reading Room, by Coochicoos, included books for giveaway from Chronicle, kids' sofa and chair from Monte Design, pillows from Boodalee, and decals from Wallcandy Arts.

More furniture from Igloo Play, including the new craftWork table+chair made in classic maple ply. The company uses sustainably harvested wood with non-toxic and durable finishes.
A painting table was one of the several interactive exhibits at Modern Family.
Manufactured in Connecticut, ducduc produces modern children’s furniture from sustainably harvested hardwoods, such as this Campaign II crib.
A corrugated-metal-clad children’s playhouse, designed by architect Jonathan Davis of pieceHomes, towered over the center of the Modern Family Zone.
The playhouse was constructed by Will Capper of ICON Fine Homes and donated to Rebuilding Together Peninsula, an organization dedicated to rehabilitating homes and community facilities for low-income families.
