Anglepoise is an iconic British brand that had its start in 1931, when automotive engineer George Carwadine had the opportunity to create a task lamp using his innovative balancing technique that involved weights, springs, cranks, and levers. The company continues to produce its most celebrated designs, while enhancing its fleet of products with modern upgrades. The Dwell Store now carries several of Anglepoise most famous lamp designs.
The Original 1227 lamp is extremely flexible, adjustable, and stable, making it a favorite lamp among art and design professionals. The exposed springs and components of the lamp give it an industrial look that is balanced by its sleek silhouette.
Anglepoise produces a variety of lamps that are designed for both commercial and residential use. The Type 75 lamp was designed by Sir Kenneth Grange, and was inspired by a 1970s version of a 1950s Anglepoise lamp. Grange’s reimagination of the design was to produce a lamp with clean modern lines and unobtrusive functionality.
The Type 75 series includes table, floor, and wall lamps, including the Mini Floor Lamp, pictured here. The Type 75 Mini Floor Lamp was conceived with small spaces in mind. The pared down lamp offers the functionality of a large lamp in a slim profile. Available in both neutral colors and bright hues, the lamp can both blend in and stand out in an interior.
The Type 75 series of lighting is a favorite of architects and designers. The Type 75 Wall Lamp provides the stability of a fixed lamp with the adjustability that professionals seek.
