In contrast to the natural white oak millwork found in the living areas, the owner's private closet storage is stained in a dark color.
"The design plays off one’s expectations of insides and outsides: open the cool gray wardrobe doors and be surprised by bright blue," says the firm.
Bleu de Savoie and Thassos marble and glass tiles complement the natural warmth of the polished concrete and white oak floor, as well as the Italian millwork.

In the master bath, Hale chose slate tile for the floors and green-and-brown glass tile by Lunada Bay for the walls, both from United Tile. The Japanese Ofuro soaking tub, crafted from Hinoki wood, is by Zen Bathworks.
The handmade bricks found throughout the house are by Danish company Petersen Tegl.
Built-in furnishings create a clean, minimalist layout.
