Black framed windows by Loewen provide a subtle contrast against the shingles and tree leaves. “The windows are Canadian, a good indicator that they’ll perform well in a cold-weather climate,” they say. “Inside, they have a nicely defined architectural profile.”

Bowick says the shingles were at first honey colored. “As it patinated, they became this beautiful silver-gray. It’s similar to the decks and railings, which are hemlock. They also have a nice patina,” he says.

“We wanted to give guests the experience of entering the cabin while walking down the slope of the hill,” they say. The decks and cabins float above the terrain and direct guests towards to the harbor.

Towering trees and greenery surround the cabins. Despite their proximity, each structure feels secluded and private due to full-height deck fencing and artfully placed windows.
