The rounded ceiling, made of cypress planks left over from Brian’s construction business, bounces and softens light—a strategy often used by museums and galleries. The custom semicircular windows were a splurge. “In any design, certain elements take it to the next level,” Ostman says. “The glazing makes the ceiling feel taller, grander.”
