  • Artist turned architect-developer, Nooni Reatig, AIA, designed and constructed her condo as part of a four unit boutique development in Washington DC’s hip Shaw neighborhood. Completed under a newly organized development arm at family run Suzane Reatig Architecture, the 10th Street Duplexes are a contemporary spin on the classic row house. Bauhaus basics like cross-ventilation, access to natural light and connection to nature are realized through double-height spaces, large floor-to-ceiling windows, a terrace and expansive roof deck.

The firm’s mantra: to build housing the design team would want to live in and to enhance quality of life in the city. Units are designed simply to let residents add their own spice. Airy living spaces and large outdoor terraces are a respite from the home’s downtown location. Bright exterior railings simulate nature and infuse moments of joy to passersby.

Reatig’s unit is decorated with her art and an eclectic mix of indigenous pieces collected from friends and travels.
