105 LINCOLN
One of the oldest buildings in Marfa, 105 Lincoln started out in the 1890s as stables for the iconic Presidio County Courthouse. The Courthouse and the jail were the first structures built in Marfa, knowing that if you provide law and order, civilization won't be far behind. And they were right, as Marfa, the town, grew around it. In the early 20th century, the main house was built in the stable yard, and the old stables were converted into casitas and apartments. Though we aren't sure why, in the 1950s, a bomb shelter was aded to the center of the back courtyard. Over the decades, 105 Lincoln would house many Marfan families and individuals, until it was abandoned in 2006. Neglected and badly in need of a full restoration, we bought the property, not sure what we'd end up doing with her. After two years of restoration 105 Lincoln has been returned to its original glory. It now consists of 4 long-term rental units for locals and 7 boutique suites that we rent exclusively on AirBNB. A mix of old and new, home and hotel, local and visitor, 105 Lincoln has been an amazing project that we always hoped would one day be Dwell worthy.
