Like many New Yorkers, actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard left Manhattan and moved to Brooklyn to start a family. The couple purchased a spacious 3,600-square-foot, four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath townhouse in Park Slope in 2006, and they hired Elizabeth Roberts and John Erik Karkula to renovate the property.

Roberts and Karkula preserved the beautiful bones of the four-story 1880s townhouse while updating it with a contemporary vibe throughout. Highlights of the lovely, light-filled home include high ceilings, perfectly proportioned rooms, a full-floor master suite, and Rais fireplaces covered with Heath Ceramics tile.
