The late modernist architect and builder Vuko Tashkovich spent his career mastering forms to manipulate light, inspired by his native region of Macedonia and his mentor, Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei. Tashkovich designed a total of 57 homes—28 of which are located in Pound Ridge, New York, about an hour from Manhattan.

Shortly before his death in 1996, Tashkovich designed and built a grand, modernist estate for William Rubin, the former curator of paintings and sculptures at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. Rubin and his wife, curator Phyllis Hattis, worked with Tashkovich to expand his original design, incorporating additional spaces in which to display their collection of modern and tribal artwork.

Today, the gallery-like residence is listed with an asking price of $6,500,000. At 9,300 square feet, it offers bright and airy living areas, complete with barrel-vaulted ceilings and expansive stretches of glass.
