Twitter Is Auctioning Off Its Office Furniture. And You Can Score an Eames Chair

Everything must go: Bidding for discounted desks, kitchen equipment, and a piece of notorious tech history starts at 50 bucks.

Elon Musk is ready to make you a deal. The mercurial magnate’s latest efforts to drag Twitter into profitability—or oblivion—have included laying off some 50 percent of the staff and encouraging the hardcore remainders to grind into the night, sleeping in the office with budget hotel–esque setups featuring gratis double beds and slippers. But those sticking around will find the office lacking some of its previous amenities.

The company is auctioning off loads of furniture and equipment from its downtown San Francisco space in a sale that goes live on January 17, 2023. While you might not have room in your kitchen for a Combitherm electric oven or an Electrolux commercial vegetable drier, you can also bid on an authentic Eames chair, or that Knoll sit/stand desk you decided you couldn’t afford during the pandemic lockdowns, for well below retail. Can you think of a better story to tell your houseguests? (Or, for now, your Twitter followers?)
