Girlfriend Collective

Girlfriend Collective took the sustainable fashion world by storm when the company launched with leggings made from—of all things—recycled water bottles. The brand has since expanded their repertoire to include comfortable activewear, outerwear, and other items made from organic cotton, recycled polyester and fishing nets, and cupro fabric, which is made from leftover waste produced by the cotton industry.

Cariuma

Cariuma works exclusively with ethical factories and clean tanneries to produce cool and affordable footwear made from natural materials. (Shoelaces made from recycled plastic bottle, anyone?) The company’s single-box shipping method is carbon neutral, and the packages are crafted with 100 percent recyclable materials. 

Reformation

Since its launch in 2009, Reformation has offered stylish clothes made from low-impact materials and repurposed or vintage fabrics. The fashionable items are either produced at the brand’s Los Angeles factory or at sustainable partnering factories across the globe. Reformation is currently 100 percent carbon neutral and has pledged to become a climate-positive company by 2025.

Everlane

Everlane partners with environmentally friendly and ethical factories to  produce a range of effortlessly chic jumpsuits, classic tees, and other clothing items, including accessories. The brand promotes an approach it refers to as "radical transparency"—which means the company reveals the true cost behind every product, from transportation and labor, to markups. 

Rothy’s

Rothy’s shoes and bags are carefully crafted from the brand’s signature thread, which is spun from marine plastic and single-use plastic water bottles. The products are 3-D knit, which results in far less waste compared to typical manufacturing processes. Plus, because the sustainable shoes and handbags are 100 percent machine washable.

Marimekko

Marimekko’s vibrant prints can spice up any wardrobe—and the brand’s sustainable practices spark joy as well. Many of the clothing items are made from recycled cotton and wool. As of 2020, the company’s fabric printing factory, offices, and global stores are all carbon neutral, too.
