The sun-soaked city of Barcelona stretches from the Mediterranean Sea to the Collserola mountains—and this sweeping coastal landscape is the inspiration behind Sir Victor, the charming sixth outpost of the Sir Hotels collection.

The newly debuted boutique hotel is superbly situated on a tree-lined street in Barcelona's flourishing Eixample district, just steps away from Antoni Gaudí’s Casa Milà, La Sagrada Familia, and other architectural marvels of Catalonia's Modernisme movement.

Step inside, and you'll find a daylit lobby awash in cool pastels, light wood, and swaying palm fronds—the stylistic equivalent of a trip to the beach. Venture deeper, and the atmosphere condenses into an earthy respite accented with dark metals, sumptuous seating, and black marble—the heart of the mountain.

Just beyond the monolithic bar lies Mr. Porter, an award-winning contemporary steakhouse illuminated by immense copper-rimmed skylights and a verdant atrium.

Longtime Sir Hotels collaborators Baranowitz + Kronenberg designed the ground floor as both a figurative journey from the coast to the mountains, and a physical manifestation of wood, stone, and metal—materials tied to the craftsmanship culture of Catalonia. Needless to say, the aesthetic grounds Sir Victor firmly in place.

The hotel also forges cultural connections through its name. Sir Victor refers to Caterina Albert i Paradís, a celebrated Catalan author who took up a masculine pen name—Víctor Català—in order to publish her work. Baranowitz + Kronenberg revel in this creative subterfuge through surprising conceits—the lobby's walls ripple like fabric, yet they're forged from aluminum.

The ceiling and reception area are studded with metallic orbs that resemble the beads of a necklace, tessellated ad infinitum. The literary connection ties in nicely with the existing limestone facade—originally designed by Capella Garcia in 2003—which peels back in sections to resemble the fluttering pages of a book.

Sir Victor's 91 rooms and suites are luxuriously appointed with furnishings by B&B Italia and Cassina. Paintings by Barcelona–based artist Bernat Daviu adorn the walls, while books filled with local lore encourage visitors to explore the surrounding city.

The hotel also features a spa with an indoor pool, a fitness center, a library dedicated to female authors, and a series of communal areas creatively conceived to draw in locals and guests alike. The crown jewel is the rooftop oasis, complete with pool, bar, and spectacular views of Casa Milà and La Sagrada Familia. Sir Victor also offers a great series of tours to connect guests with the city's vibrant cuisine, architecture, wine, and music.
