A couple that caught my eye were UC Santa Barbara professor Curtis Roads (pictured above), who will be speaking on February 18th about the intersection of sound and space, building on the ideas of architect and composer Iannis Xenakis. You can hear some of Roads', who used to edit Computer Music Journal, rather discomfiting compositions here.
Hotshot LA architect Eric Owen Moss visits SCI-Arc on March 18th (they're also running an exhibition on his work from April 3rd-May 17th) to discuss his work, which includes the pretty incredible-looking Stealth building in Culver City.
Another that struck me as interesting is on April 3rd when LA-based graphic designer Jessica D'Elena's "Graphitecture: The Graphic Designer Draws Lines in the Architect's Sandbox" argues for greater overlap between the realms of graphic design and architecture.
Alas I do not, like most of you, live in Los Angeles. And though the price (free, did I mention these talks are free?) is right for these tough times, I cannot pop down from San Francisco to LA for an evening of high architectural theory. The answer? Watch it all here. Consider yourselves lectured.
