Sauna Gondel by Kueng Sauna

When designers Toni Egger and Felix Tarantik stumbled across a set of discarded Swiss ski gondolas, they set about repurposing them in a surprising way. The duo transformed the hardy, well-constructed shells—the gondolas once transported people through the air, after all—into saunas, and now they’re partnering with the experienced manufacturers at Kueng to bring their design to the mass market. At 530 pounds, these relatively lightweight saunas can be placed almost anywhere, and they function using a simple plug-in electric system. Prices start at approximately $19,250.

Scandinavian Sauna

Designed by the Copenhagen-based architecture firm Native Narrative, the Scandinavian Sauna is ready to travel. The minimalist structure, with its sloped roof and timber-clad exterior, is built on top of a trailer frame—and a fold-down rear ramp provides easy access to the interior. The interior features a double-tiered sauna bench with room for 10 people, along with a separate changing area. An atmospheric LED lighting system stays powered for up to 12 hours thanks to a rechargeable battery.

Prices start at approximately $27,500, not including delivery or tax. Units are already available throughout Europe, with US deliveries beginning soon.

Iglusauna by Iglucraft

With their rounded, organic silhouettes and shingled shells, the huts and saunas crafted by Estonia-based Iglucraft look like something out of a fairy tale. The company markets three saunas—from an adorable egg-shaped design that accommodates four to a larger size that comfortably fits six with extra space for a changing room.

Their team also collaborates on custom projects—in fact, they’ve just finished a 25-person sauna. The made-to-order structures marry a 200-plus-year-old shingling technique with modern conveniences. Prices start at approximately $9,500, exclusive of VAT and delivery/installation.

Finland-based RIPAVI Oy was founded in 2017 with the goal of developing practical saunas for use anywhere in the world. They offer several models set on adjustable metal legs that requires no prebuilt foundation—that is, unless you prefer to do away with the legs altogether and glide away on their optional pontoon or ski platforms. The sleek structures can be powered by solar energy and outfitted for off-the-grid use. Each sauna is custom made according to customer specifications, with prices starting at approximately $21,500.

Bubble-View Barrel Saunas by Dundalk Leisure Craft

This panoramic view sauna creates the feeling of sitting outside with its transparent, bubble-shaped window. Wrapped in western red cedar, the simple cylindrical shape allows steam to circulate efficiently. Built-in flooring and benches along both sides are both practical and comfortable. Each unit is made in Canada, and prices start at approximately $9,800 for the smallest six-foot-long model, with shipping options dependent on destination.

Lushna A-Frame Saunas

Lushna, a Slovenian company known for its eco-friendly designs, has expanded to produce simple yet practical saunas. Each A-frame structure features a triangular window at one end, allowing for intimate views of the surroundings. The exteriors are wrapped in larch wood, while the interiors are clad in either aspen or black alder. Prices start at $22,990.
