Studio Xaquixe finds discarded glass from communities and collection centers in Oaxaca, Mexico and uses it in a “formulated glass” recipe—a mix of 95-percent glass and five-percent raw materials. In their glass-blowing studio, they use a heat recovery system that reuses wasted heat from one part of the process, and filters it to another. This reduces energy consumption by up to 35 percent.
