Hoping to bring the magic of Frank Lloyd Wright to the Pacific Northwest in the mid-1950s, Lillian Durig asked her brother, architect Stephen Mayer, to design and build a Usonian-inspired home in Portland, Oregon.

Completed in 1957 (in spite of the neighbor’s complaints about the flat roof), the house cleaves close to Usonian ideals and features affordable materials, simple construction, and an open-plan layout that embraces the outdoors. Over fifty years later, the home has most of its original details intact, and the community has celebrated it as a time capsule of midcentury design; the late owner even opened up her home to architectural tours.

Beautifully preserved with original fixtures throughout, the three-bedroom, two-bath custom home in the Concordia neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, is now seeking a new owner at an asking price of $595,000.
