A Swedish Estate With a Gorgeous, Minimalist Tiny House Asks $2.5M

The highlight of this 19th-century farmhouse-turned-getaway is a stunning little home that celebrates the Swedish ritual of the sauna.

A 19th-century farmhouse on Sweden's Bjäre peninsula has been reborn as an incredible vacation home—and the highlight is undoubtedly this 538-square-foot dwelling. Known as Kvarnhuset, or the Mill House, the charming little annex was thoughtfully designed by Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh to serve as a peaceful refuge—a getaway from your getaway—or a private guest house for visiting friends or family.

Full-height sliding glass doors bring a sense of the outdoors into the home.

The open-plan living space is clad in solid oak and features natural Öland limestone surfaces.

The warm and cozy annex is crafted from beautiful materials such as solid oak and Öland limestone. Its minimalist Scandinavian interiors draw inspiration from Japanese design, and the home features an open-plan layout with an upper alcove for sleeping.

However, it's the serene wood-lined sauna that steals the show. An integral part of Swedish culture, the traditional sauna ritual involves a dip in a cold stream. Since the creek on the property was inadequate, Wingårdh installed a small dipping pool to the side to provide the perfect spot for an après-sauna cooldown. The entire complex is currently the market—scroll ahead to take a peek inside the gorgeous little guest house.

The open kitchen overlooks the living room. Ample glazing provides natural light and views of the surroundings.
