Austrian-American architect Richard Neutra designed the mid-’40s Kaufmann House in Palm Springs, California, for Edgar Kaufmann Sr., a wealthy department store owner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The pool area has a particularly nostalgic appeal thanks to its appearances in a 1947 photograph by Julius Shulman (above) and Slim Aarons’ 1970 Poolside Gossip.
