Built by famed California developer Joseph Eichler in 1962, the newly revamped home was recently featured in a sci-fi film starring Colin Farrell.

A slice of California modernism is up for grabs in the Northeast. Located just 30 minutes north of Manhattan in Spring Valley, New York, the rare post-and-beam home was designed by renowned architects Jones and Emmons and built in 1962 by developer Joseph Eichler.

The 1962 midcentury at 130 Grotke Road is conveniently located just a short drive from Manhattan. A bright blue door pops amidst the home’s black exterior siding.

A large, open-sky atrium—a signature feature of Eichler homes—leads to the interiors.

Boasting signature midcentury modern features, the five-bedroom abode is one of only three Eichlers located along the East Coast. But that’s not the only aspect that sets it apart. Earlier this year, the property served as the main house for the upcoming sci-fi film After Yang starring Colin Farrell.

Glass walls encapsulate the open-plan living room, which rests directly under the home's double A-frame roof. The exposed beams, ceilings, and fireplace were painted a crisp white as part of the renovation. Wide-plank, herringbone-patterned floors were also laid throughout.

In the kitchen, sliding glass doors welcome in an abundance of fresh air and natural light.

To prepare for the home’s screen debut, the current owners revamped much of the space, treating the house to a new roof, new windows and floors, a kitchen remodel, and a fresh paint. Scroll ahead to take a peek inside the property, currently listed for $575,000.

The kitchen now features all-new appliances and a custom-designed island. The space’s central location in the open-plan layout makes entertaining a breeze.

The master bedroom offers direct access to the main atrium and also includes an ensuite bath.

A peek at one of the two remodeled bathrooms, sporting an all-white palette similar to the rest of the home. The four pull-out cabinets below the double sinks offers plentiful storage.

Unlike California Eichlers which now regularly sell for upwards of $1 million, this rare midcentury gem is currently on the market for less than $600,000.

130 Grotke Road in Spring Valley, NY, is currently listed for $575,000 by Devorah Sekula of Q HOME SALES. Devorah can also be reached at +1 (845) 548-9486.
