The Dwell House Kitchen May Be Compact, But It Packs a Punch
Partner Story

What differentiates the Dwell House from other backyard homes or ADUs is its impeccable design and detailing. Created in collaboration with Abodu and designed by Norm Architects, the 540-square-foot house is at once versatile enough to suit a gamut of uses, durable enough to stand the test of time, and minimal enough to complement any architectural style.
A full suite of Bosch appliances are seamlessly integrated into the kitchen. "We pride ourselves on innovations that serve people’s everyday needs," says Bosch brand director Puri Romeo. "Bosch appliances are thoughtful in their design and focus on every detail, including a sleek appearance and functional, efficient features. We combine design considerations with industry-leading technology and features that make cooking, cleaning, and refrigerating easy and worry-free."
At the core of the one-bedroom home is an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space awash in natural light and outfitted with clever, built-in storage. "We approached the project in the same way we would a typical residential project, only condensed," says Norm Architects partner Sofie Thorning. "We always aim for a very simple framework where every element is considered, and we use a lot of in-built millwork to create a clutter-free, calm, and comfortable space."
Clutter-free, calm, and comfortable are words that certainly describe the impressive kitchen, which features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, quartz countertops, and a complete set of Bosch appliances. The collaboration between Bosch and Dwell felt natural and organic, rising from both brands’ dedication to elevated experiences. "We design appliances to simplify everyday life in the kitchen and at home," says Bosch brand director Puri Romeo. "Our approach to design and innovation is centered around the human experience, carefully considering space and many touchpoints in the daily use of appliances. It just made perfect sense to partner together to bring this kitchen to life."
The Dwell House kitchen may be compact, but it doesn’t hold back on power and capability. The Bosch 500 Series Induction Cooktop is a sleek surface that provides quick, precise heat while being easy to clean and maintain. Its counterpart, the 500 Series Single Wall Oven, is a space-saving appliance with innovative features like the Convection Multi-Rack, which efficiently circulates heat for consistent browning, and the DualClean system, which burns off grease. The energy-efficient 800 Series Built-In Bottom Freezer Refrigerator has a soft-close flat hinge that allows it to be installed right up against the wall, and the smart appliance can be connected for remote control and monitoring. Finally, the 300 Series Dishwasher offers PrecisionWash, which monitors and adjusts water levels and wash cycles—all while operating at a whisper.
The 800 Series Built-In Bottom Freezer Refrigerator comes with Home Connect for remote control and monitoring. "With the right design and products, you can make any space reflect your own style and ensure that it works in the best way for your needs," says Romeo. "In this case, Bosch allowed ADUs and backyard houses to reimagine how their kitchens work with superior innovation and sleek designs."
"We’ve worked with Bosch for many years, and they’re spectacular when it comes to creating really high performance, small profile appliances," says Dwell editor-in-chief William Hanley. "Their range performs remarkably well, and doesn’t feel like a tiny apartment set up—you could do Thanksgiving dinner at the Dwell House."
