"Our mantra through design and construction was to retain the 1885 fabric and remove every element of the 1930s fabric," says Joe. This approach is clearly seen in the toothed sandstock brickwork in the courtyard. The 1930s brickwork was removed, leaving what appears as a ‘ruin.’
