Greg Hoffman and Kirsten Brady put their faith in Bohlin Cywinski Jackson to remake their 1952 daylight ranch house overlooking Portland, Oregon. "I had a healthy respect for their portfolio. You’ve got the Fifth Avenue Apple store," says Greg, an executive at Nike. As part of a complete facelift, the architects replaced a hipped roof with a new rectilinear upper level. The existing ground floor, which was updated with more glass, is now shielded by a basalt screen wall.
