The single-story cottage in Cape Town’s Green Point neighborhood was originally built as part of a series, but now it subtly stands out with two new dormer windows and an adjusted stoep that exposes the facade’s textured stone. Inside, the Victorian-era home holds an expanded living area with a second-story suite, a rear courtyard off the kitchen, double-height spaces, and a layout that cleverly organizes its public and private quarters.

Throughout the 1,600-square-foot, two-bedroom Arklow Villa III, local firm Douglas & Company implemented an abundance of South African pine and a palette of brick and natural stone. The firm also designed custom furnishings for the home—like a credenza and bar cart—for a finishing touch.
