Mikiya Kobayashi is a Japanese designer. Born in 1981, Kobayashi graduated from Musashino Art University in Tokyo in 2004. He took a position designing for Field Four Design Office in 2005, which is one of the biggest interior Japanese design companies. Kobayashi founded his own studio in Tokyo in 2006, designing furniture and accessories for companies including H Concept, Dreamy Person, and Lemnos. He directs his own brands within some of Japan’s largest furniture companies including Fuji Furniture, Takumi Kohgei, and Tendo Mokko. Kobayashi has earned several international design awards including the IF Gold Award and Red Dot Design Award. He opened his own shop Taiyou no Shita in Tokyo in 2011, offering his own designs among a curated selection of furniture and products.
