Photographer Hotze Eisma was born and raised in Amsterdam. "I was named for my grandfather, who lived in a small village in Friesland, which is a nothern province of Holland that has its own language. Even for the Dutch, my name is uncommon," he says. "While shooting the Friesland residence of Paula Leen (July/Aug 2012), I overheard her daughter Lotte asking in Frisian, 'Is Hotze there?' It felt like coming home!"
