A custom plywood-and-aluminum door slides into the wall, providing access to the bathroom, which is also finished with plywood.
Glass sliding doors open up the primary bathroom to the surrounding landscape.
Olive-green Fireclay tile creates a spa-like experience in the bathroom and fluctuates in tone throughout the day.
Homeowner Isaac Hase installed custom cabinetry from Wisconsin cabinetmaker Woodcraft Specialties.
The cabin contains a sleeping area that can be closed off via curtains, which are made from Japanese Shashiko cloth from Handa Textiles.
The floors are Doug fir, and the framing and rest of the wood inside is redwood. The french doors and lower window were made by Mike York at Ocean Sash & Door Company, while the upper windows were made by Jeff and Molly.

The outdoor room is backed by a gabion wall made of stone. Rainwater runs off the roofs into a channel before being funneled through pipes concealed within it to an underground concrete tank.

Project lead Elise Snyder and another Solares staff member did a road trip and stayed overnight to get a sense of the landscape and find the right siting. The team wasn’t able to come back out to the site after that, but luckily, builder Quantum Builders was a little closer to the action and stayed on the property regularly to get the project home. “It was like an old-fashioned logging camp feel to it,” laughs Lolley.
