Jordan: Pixels

This short has been floating around the onlines for a bit, but I saw it again this morning and wowie, it's so, so well done. I'm usually not big on disaster movies where you have to watch the world's well-known landmarks get completely demolished, but pixels—in the form of 8-bit superstars of yore like Frogger and Pac Man—taking over New York, turning the city into big blocks of color? Awesome. Big kahdooz to writer/director Patrick Jean. via The Strange Attractor

Miyoko: Car Sharing

friday San Francisco City CarShare condo

I have been carless most of my life, present day included, and hope to keep it that way for as long as possible. It does help that I live in a major city with decent public transportation and belong to a car-sharing program. Earlier this week, Assemblymember Dave Jones introduced a bill that would allow individuals who do own their own vehicles to enroll them in car-sharing programs, which is currently not an option due to insurance regulations. It's just the start of what is sure to be a long process to make this possible, but you can never start without that first step.

Sam: AlaTown

friday ala town

I'm always keen to find out what's going on across the west coast pond, but finding substantive coverage of japanese design in English isn't always easy. That's why I was happy to discover AlaTown, a blog by Tokyo–based architect Alastair Townsend. One of his most recent posts is a tour of Muji's new housing development. Definitely a site I'll be checking in on from time to time.

Amanda: Skitch's Milan video

I enjoyed watching this quick ilttle video, shot outside of the Skitsch store during this year's Salone in Milan. Andy Rementer did the illustrations, taken from his Mr. Bello catalogue, which he produced with Apartamento.
