Great home! I love it when Dwell profiles modest, but beautiful houses. I love home design, but I also love music and the (often clunky) equipment that comes with that hobby. The stereo system in the house is one of the best integrations of design and audio performance I've seen! Anyone know the specifics on those stereo components? Oh, and I'm also drooling over the vinyl collection.
Great setup! Who makes that softa/couch and ottoman?
comfortable, luxurious, restrained. great project.
I agree, Ryan! Great house, great location, great everything, including a totally enviable vinyl collection. I, too, am curious about the "vintage" stereo. The turntable is a Linn LP12, which I recognized because I have one in my system. But I would call it a "classic," rather than "vintage." The amp looks to me to be also a "boutique" contemporary tube amp, not a vintage number. I use "boutique" in an approving way, not a derogatory way, to point to some of the quality tube amps that are being produced today to very high standards by the best designers, but are not projected to a huge audience. I, too, wish I knew about the speakers; perhaps they will let us in on their secret. I remain, house envy, LP envy, stereo envy.
Does anyone know the name of the "1960s international vacation house" book mentioned by the author? thx
Love the house! The entire living room that opens to the outside is simply beautiful. Would you mind saying who makes those doors? Thanks in advance!
Yes, I am crawling the web trying to find that amp!! Please help, it's exactly what I have been looking for. I can not read the name on the front. The house is also amazing, great feature!
It's a tube amp, not sure the manf. but goto Audiogon.com and go under Tube amps there are all kinds of Audiophile guys that have tube amps, they are just low watts, so you have to have high eff 90DB or above . Alot of tube amps may only put out 15-30 watts. But it maybe the most wonderful watts you have heard.
"....designed the sideboard just tall enough so that their young children, Delphine and Chantal, couldn’t reach the vintage stereo." For now..................
The integrated amplifier pictured in the article appears to be a Jolida JD102B Integrated Stereo Tube Amplifier. More info at: http://www.jolida.com/product/tubeamp/jd102b
