Every home in California will have to be zero net energy or better by 2020, if San Diego Democrat Lori Saldana's bill gets up. the bill would require homes to emit no carbon and give power back into the grid. The excess power would come from renewable energy sources, like solar polar panels. It could be generated by nearby wind or geothermal plants, too. Great opportunity for Sobek's designs...
It is enlightening to read about a multi-dimensional individual yet a specialist, an architect- engineer. It goes to show that true innovative design ideas come from a wandering intellect that seeks inspirations from across disciplines and cultures.
All designers should be challenged to create green items. Recycling, objects that utilize less energy and maintenance -- a complete change of how we think CAN be integrated into beautifully designed items (as shown, eh?). Making it accessible and affordable for everyone -- icing on the cake. Let's do THAT.
