The Best of Northern Light Fair 2010
The Northern Light Fair is held every year in conjunction with the Stockholm Furniture Fair. This year approximately 100 exhibitors demonstrating the latest in home lighting, LEDs, halogen lamps, fiber lights and glittering chandeliers came together to reach the 40,000 visitors who turned out to attend both fairs. The emphasis here was on Scandinavian design. While much of the lighting on display came from Sweden, the other Nordic countries of Finland, Denmark and Norway were also well represented, with some exhibitors coming from as far as Italy. Of the many new lamps premiering at the fair, these were our favorites.

I love your magazine and it is true that some of the stuff shown and displayed I do not like or care for. But, I always read everything as it is stimulating and some of the items a little far out to those of us trying to create a truly affordable house adoptable to all the ways we here in the United States live. I am sure there are a lot of people who do not like Neutra, Schindler or consider the Case Study Houses as a waste of time and energy. Of course I love them all..I look to you for inspiration and stimulation and some day I hope to send you a complete article on our houses made from Shipping Containers as an answer to a requirement for style, function and of course truly affordable. Cheers Lucius
Sunday Lamp; Open flame that close to a combustible wall ? Dangerous ! GVR
Sounds like an amazing show. Would be interested to know what some of your favorite LED light fixtures were. Have been on the hunt for a cool LED pendant. Have seen pictures of the TR15 Pendant Light, but was never able to quite figure it out in 2d--your description finally shed some light on it for me - thanks. V.cool.
I love Dwell magazine also and some of these lamps are awesome. I was intrigued by the container home idea as I have seen some in Dwell. Having goggled for the name Lucius Foster above and container homes. Small world. I was referred to "Craigslists" postings, directing people to the "BBB" of LA. It clearly warns, this may be a scam of someone not delivering on promises. So I goggled further and bingo, he seems to be the father of the famous movie Star Jodie Foster. One wonders does she know what her family members are up to? Beware Dwell readers.
So, what happened to the "light me up" quote balloon light that you used to lure me from the Dwell newsletter to this page? I declare Bait and switch!
Ha, no bait and switch, we promise! You just caught the fact that the last slide wasn't functioning properly. It's fixed now, but for your reference, here's the link: http://www.dwell.com/slideshows/the-best-of-northern-lights-2010.html?slide=8&paused=true?123
