Where is this house located?
Venice, CA.
The cold, dead hand of Bauhaus retains its icy grip. You have to wonder if the people inside know how desolate they look, tiny figures dwarfed by masses of grey.
A great design full of light and air and nature...I just don't see the desolation and masses of grey....always interesting to see other's perspectives...or reflections of the soul?
desolate is not my take- I love the space.
I really like the idea solar power for energy but I would only do it for ethical reasons and when it costs only few thousands to install. Because I do not believe in prepaying for electricity or fuel for my car for the next 30 years. Therefore to say they spent 34,000 for a lifetime a free energy does not make sense for my family. I think what's most important is to teach people how to manage their electrical usage instead of always touting this much expenditure that regular folks would not be able to afford. But as far as the house goes, it's beautiful.
The price of installing solar the regular way and the way that these people did it comes out the same money wise and it takes more time to recoupe the money this way then through another solar company would ! So what would be the benefit and all that time spent to do this ??
