With double-height ceilings at the front and rear, the second floor exists only in the midsection of the building inside a nested plywood box that contains the kitchen, bathrooms, master bedroom, and guest room. To address the challenge of climate control in such a large open space, this interior structure—which can be enclosed completely with sliding walls—is the only area with air-conditioning.

I'm really distracted by this writer's dickishness: snarky jokes about meth labs, calling the homeowners' dogs senile, patronizing and adolescent revelations about unknown rural artists, as well as offhandedly summarizing everyone and everything she met/experienced (including this remarkable home) as some endearingly motley little band. This is a great project and it deserves a better article.

I couldn’t disagree more, but 1st things 1st… I’m thinking 47, should accompany the initials, ak, because the first comment written, seems to display a love for, mowin’ ‘em down, shows tendencies of a hair trigger, and without a doubt, a wild spray pattern!. The Facts are, as follows…. The description of the writer is WRONG, on every level! The comment made is the distraction, and even if my opinion is wrong, I am offended, that he, or she is distracted by my reality! The Writer drove to my house, and spent the better portion of the day with us! She spent real time, working toward a meaningful article! I am very thankful that she, was able to landmark, so many truths, and not display our family, as phony, cardboard cutouts! The likelihood of passing beat up, rural outposts of dilapidation, on the way to our home, is no snarky joke. It is a reality! My dogs were both senile, and I say “were”, because one of those furkids, died in my arms, not to long after the article! I love that McCarthy “The Red Scare” Farley, was chronicled, in the 17th year of his life! He was Legendary, in my life! One more fact, here…. Every single Character that was part of the build, including MJ, the Architect, is probably proud to be part of some “Motley little band”! I’m pretty sure, ak “47” wouldn’t make the cut in my little motley band! Maybe they could shoot their way in!
