Sinan was NOT the architect for the Blue Mosque. I am upset that a magazine of Dwell's level got many basic things wrong about this beautiful and amazing city.
The commenter above is absolutely right. And attributing the Ortakoy mosque to Sinan is an even bigger blooper, since this mosque dates to the 18th century!
Oops, my bad. The Ortakoy mosque was built in the 1850s. However, it's STILL not by Sinan.
