The float house (cabin) design is common here in Coastal BC. We live the majority of the year in our float cabin on Powell Lake. There about 200 other cabins dotting the shoreline, but those are mostly summer retreats. We love ours so much we live there in all seasons. It's off the grid, but has everything we need to be comfortable. The big bonus is that we nature (and fishing) right at our doorstep.
