Great views!. Inexpensive and quick to build, but what do you do when the temperatures soar to over 100 degrees or plummet to below freezing? And what happens when the winds begin to howl?
Is that a landmine next the rock pathway? Anyways, great house, but still seems a little cold. I would love to live there for a week, but I don't know if I would want to make that a permanent place to reside. I do agree that those views are spectacular.
@richard roe: I suppose they don't do anything when the temperature gets too hot or too cold, especially too hot... they don't do anything THERE at least because they are esconced in a lair in a more hospitable climate... say by the sea or in the mountains. But hey, that's just my observation as someone who lives down the road in the Hi-Desert 24/7/365. That's what I would do if I had the money. There is a reason why the area of and around Palm Springs is vacated from June through September... IT'S HOTTER THAN HELL! And... they say inexpensive...yeah, right! You don't see any numbers listed do you?
From experience living in the area, any exposed structure like this without zone air conditioning would be a problem from June - October, when it magically cools down. More realistic would be to "berm" a house in a hillside with a north facing view to keep it cool. The "season" is moderate but can get cold, down to the low '40's. This is an interesting retreat house concept but not for full time unless you really are into the heat, some people are.
It's mentioned in one of the slides that this is their retreat home, away from the Los Angeles city life. So, I'm sure they aren't there when it's scorching hot.
Could be a great retreat home...simple designs but with spectacular views.
how do i get an article done on my custom hand built adobe home in alb.,nm
This is a very lovely property and i would be glad to get my hands on the plans , i currently own a plot of land in Barbados on the East Coast over looking the Atlantic Ocean, so this would not be out of place .
amazing. !!!!! i liked very so much.
I really love the looks of this home. I would love to know where it is located in D.H.S. (since I live here in town), I'd really dig viewing it in person! My partner & I own an amazing lot in Whitewater, CA. I really want to build something like this house or more "Shipping Container" type home on it.
The desert Utopia is exactly what I am looking for in a winter retreat for the Tonopah, AZ area. Would love to discuss further the costs and options of this type of home in the Tonopah, AZ area. We are about 2 years from moving there. Already own the land......
