I received an unexpected postcard from the petite Polish town of Dąbrówno last week, sent by my friend Tim who was backpacking through Europe. He mentioned that he was shacking up in a converted water tower, and my ears perked up. Although not necessarily an ode to modernism, this abandoned water tower transformation seemed like a notable tribute to summer homeyness -- and I wanted to share what he shared with me.

What a great use of an old structure. Rad.
Wow it is really a cool place to live. Regards, Julie Watson
Charming, looks like a copper tank.
minor correction - picture #7 was taken in the city of Gdansk. What we see in the background is one of the major landmarks in Poland.
Thanks for letting us know, Mariusz.
Thanks to Tim and Tiffany for posting the info about the water tower home in Dabrowno, Poland. We are the owners of the Water Tower and have enjoyed the use each year after renovation in 2001. With regrets, we are now offering the water tower and land for sale. There are 5 levels of ample living space. A rough estimate of this space is more than 110 square meters or about 1100 square feet. The entire property is fenced and has a masonary stairway to the lower level of the lot. True, there is one picture in the slide show that is a view in Gdansk.
I always dreamed to live in a lighthouse.
