Andrea Rug
by Jon EliasonFor a geometric touch of grey in the living…
Next month the Morgan Library and Museum presents a rare opportunity to see original drawings from one of the most influential classical architects in history, Andrea Palladio. Principles of symmetry, balance, and proportion all stem from Palladio's studies of Roman ruins, and his work on country villas near Venice has influenced Western architecture for centuries. Check out our slideshow to see a sneak peek at a few of the thirty drawings that will be on display, many of which haven't been seen in decades, as well as a few architectural models that will also be included in the exhibition.

I began to adore Palladio architecture when I made a model of the Pantheon with drinking straws for columns in 6th grade, and I loved walking through it years later - and my most recent Palladio adventure was last year when I helped to produce wall hangings of Palladio's arch and another classical icon with Nan Quick, who believes everyone should have access to affordable Palladio features. Nan's website InstantClassicism.com features Palladio wall hangings which are gorgeous. If you want to take Palladio home to your dining room or living room or stairwell, visit InstantClassicism.com.
