Portland-based retailer Table of Contents hits all the right notes. A modern purveyor of objects and clothing from Rason Jens, Lostine, and Martino Gamper to Henrik Vibskov, Patrik Ervell, and Beatrice Valenzuela, respectively, Table of Contents opened late last year by two local designers, Joseph Magliaro and Shu Hung.
Founded in 2005 by Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin, Our Legacy is a menswear brand that offers timeless high-quality garments for the modern gentleman such as classic button-downs, derby boots and bombed wool blazers. Built in 2012, their shop in Gothenburg was realized by Stockholm-based firm Arrhov Frick Arkitektkontor after many a discussion with the designers about collaboration.
We recently got the chance to pop into the new Aesop shop in San Francisco, a charming little boutique that opened December 20th. Located on the shopper's paradise of Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights, the cork-and-pine shop cuts an understated figure when compared to flashy retail outlets like Jonathan Adler or Marc Jacobs down the block.
We recently had the chance to visit Williamsburg design shop, The Future Perfect's, newest west coast outpost in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco (check out our first report here!) and it certainly did not disappoint.
No longer around, but forever immortalized on the web, this dreamy temporary retail installation created by Snarkitecture in collaboration with designer Richard Chai has still got us swooning. Carved from the confines of an existing structure beneath the High Line, the installation enveloped visitors within a glacial cavern excavated from a single material. When time to shutter down was nearing, the material was returned to the manufacturer and recycled into rigid foam insulation.
