At the start of the new year we all have grand intentions. Often, one of them is to finally get more organized. To help you reach that goal we've collected some of our favorite office and work area designs. Get inspired to get organized!

ANGULAR MODERN BEACH HOUSE IN FLORIDA

The guest room doubles as a home office. Here, too, are cypress built-ins framing glass panels that look out onto the sea. The architects call them "St. Jerome boxes," which is inspired by the classic image of St. Jerome at his desk, lost in thought, with the landscape framed in a picture window beside him.

A RENOVATED LOFT IN SOHO

A MODERN GLASS ADDITION IN BELGIUM

For this tiny house in the Belgian forest, a little extra square footage comes in the form of a glassed-in addition with a stellar view. The extra space is home to an office. The homeowner works on a Tense table by Piergiorgio and Michele Cazzaniga and Flow chairs by Jean Marie Massaud, both for MDF Italia. Photo by Frederik Vercruysse.

RILL ARCHITECTS' RETREAT IN THE WOODS

In the third floor office that doubles as a bird sanctuary, the owners share the magnificent views with their cockatiels. Interior designer Jodi Macklin kept the decor spare and windows unadorned for a clear look at the outdoor setting. Photo by James Ray Spahn.

A RENOVATED FARMHOUSE IN NORTHERN ITALY

A couple in northern Italy trade a cramped flat for a renovated farmhouse in the country. The sitting area and office are on the second floor, reached via the catwalk. “We watch TV here, use the computer, and sit by the fire,” says Chiavelli. “The way you access the space is part of the architecture, and that’s part of the beauty of it.” Near the sofa by Piero Lissoni for Cassina is a Bourgie lamp from Kartell; on the large table, made from old roof beams, is a Taccia lamp from Flos. Photo by Helenio Barbetta.

BRAVER'S NEW WORLD

A revamp of this small suburban Massachusetts home doubled its size while giving the yard, the neighbors, and the planet a little breathing room. This office is up one flight of stairs from the ground floor, but still down half a level from Braver's library (seen through the door). Photo by Chang Kyun Kim.
