As part of the renovation of their Portland, Oregon, home, a couple hired Fusion Landscape Design to remake their garage and backyard into a calm oasis. A bluestone-paved patio with a built-in fireplace sits adjacent to a sprawling in-ground hot tub.
Having completed the restoration of their 1958 Eichler in Sunnyvale, California, a couple hired Monterey-based landscape designer Bernard Trainor to transform the irregularly-shaped lot. Trainor divided the yard into four “garden rooms”: an entry courtyard with a fire pit for entertaining, a traditional backyard with a lawn and a dining area, a meditative space just off the master bedroom, and a side garden near the guesthouse.
While the remodel of their Los Angeles home was in progress, Eric Garcetti and Amy Elaine Wakeland acquired two steep, unbuildable adjoining lots. With the help of Sean Femrite Environmental Design Studio, they transformed this 19,000-square-foot yard into a full-blown productive garden.
