I wonder if anyone has thought about making a re-usable picnic set, one you can wash and use again?
Agreed, Rasmund. That was the first thing that came to mind. Compostable? Seriously? What a disappointment...
I concur.
I understand what you guys are saying but there are already thousands of re-usable picnic basket options on the market that conscious people (like ourselves I assume) would use. I think this is tapping into the parts of society that are ' disposable' users and will continue to be. It's unfortunately an unrealistic thought (although a lovely dream) to think everyone can be changed into consistent recyclers, so if products like this can make even the tiniest dent in a landfill I think it's at least a positive direction for our disposable society. Let's face it, if disposables and plastics had been compostable 30 years ago, what a different world we would live in today. It's never too late to start trying to make a difference, however small that difference may begin..
Valid points by all, but would tend to side with Rasmund, Caitlin, and Carine. The world surely won't change over night, but products like this, eye pleasing, eco-friendly pieces, could surely go a long way toward helping us progress at a much quicker pace. People (myself included) that would not be willing to spend $25 on a throw away/compostable picnic box, would surely be more amenable to the idea of investing $40-50 in a reusable, eco-friendly travel dining set with some aesthetic appeal.
Why are you guys getting up set because it's compostable not reusable? If you want picnic dishes you can re-wash and use again use your own kitchen dishes for hamsters-sake! This is a brilliant idea, I love it
