Tropicalia Cocoon
- Designed by: Patricia Urquiola
- Made by: Moroso
- Price: $8,614

When these conceptual cocoons appeared at last year’s Milan Furniture Fair, they seemed like Toltec-scaled artifacts hauled back from an exploratory voyage deep into the uncharted head-waters of Urquiola’s creative flow—elegantly minimal geodesic forms wrapped in an explosion of color, pattern, and texture. A year later, the remote tropical jungle outpost of Urquiola’s ingenuity remains unscathed.

so unaffordable!
A very unique, interesting concept. But the aesthetics leave me cold, and the price is ridiculous.
Offer this in a more harmonious color scheme, and drop the price to between $2000 and $3000, I think you would have a winner.
Funky...yes. Elegant...no.
I like the structure. Consider carbon fiber & waterproof weave. Weave would be wonderful if it accentuated the structure. I would not pay higher than $3500 regardless (well, unless you could have this device do something insanely wonderful).
When I saw this in this months issue of dwell I was picturing it hanging from our spiral staircase, functioning as a great place to relax and to deter visitors clomping their heads on the metal. Seeing the price, I am less excited. As in, I still think it is cool, but I can't buy it.
Reminds me of elementary school weaving.
very beautiful...and so unaffordable. lol.
the design is a typical artisanal way of knitting this kind of chairs (not hung - that it proper of the "hammock")... I can find them in the popular market for : U$60 or less!!!! I LOVE IT REGARDLESS OF THE PRICE....the design IS ORIGINAL. It mixed two things: the knit, the combination of colors, and the hanging-chair concept which has become popular here in the caribbean they sell hammock chairs for U$40 (cartagena, colombia-south america).
Price = total joke. Hahahahahahahaha. Honestly? Wow.
I saw some very similar hammocks for a little over 50 bucks on The Hunger Site. Not quite as functional as the chair, but the price is a lot friendlier.
