Bought the Hoover Platinum a few months ago from Best Buy. It comes with a separate canister vacuum as well. I was hesitant to have my "hose feature" separated from the main unit but it has changed the way I clean for the better. The upright is so light and and self propelled that I found it effortless to vacuum so I find myself doing it more often. I used to use the hose to vacuum the perimeter because my previous vacuum didn't get close enough. The new Hoover has a narrower base with brushes along the side that actually vacuum well next to the wall. I was skeptical about the light weight canister but have found that with it's carrying strap it is just what I needed to do my stairs. Considering that is how I broke my last vacuum...dragging it up and down the stairs.. the canister is a perfect solution.
