Nikari, established by cabinetmaker Kari Virtanen in 1967, is a company dedicated to using wood in the clean, classic, Nordic tradition, manufacturing its entire collection in Finland. At this year's Habitare fair in Helsinki, new introductions included the latest work from Jenni Roininen in her JRA lounge series. We believe the JRA3 sofa without armrests might function a bit more like a bench in your living room but it's beautiful, either way, and the rest of the site is chock full of stunning stuff.

I have been very into furniture/planters recently—especially eyeing mid-century modern pieces that go in the entry way—and I love this new piece by Leif.designpark for De La Espada. It is a gorgeous bench that is only enhanced by the addition of a beautiful plant—your choice of course! Would be great in an entry where you could plop down to take shoes on and off.

Nodding to the enigmatic artist Joseph Beuys, this layered industrial wool felt bench/ottoman creates a synthesis between fine art and design utilizing low-tech materials. The piece, designed by Chris Ferebee and Laurice Parkin of 521 Design, is currently included in the exhibition Fashioning Felt at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York.
